New for 2023 – Banquet – Tuesday June 27, 2023 – at the Cutten Club

The banquet will be at the Cutten Club, just north of UofG campus on College Ave, on Tuesday June 27, 2023 (separate ticket item purchased during registration).

We anticipate things to get started with some live music by Shakey and the Blue Notes (click here for a short sample) around 6:30pm, and includes a presentation by Dr Rob de Loe (University of Waterloo), recognition award presentations (nominate someone here!), and then Shakey and the Blue Notes will close the event.

In response to your feedback from previous conferences, we are pleased to announce our first ever Natural Channel Systems Conference banquet. This exciting networking event will be held on June 27, 2023 at the Cutten Club which is right next to the University Campus. Both conference registrants and guests are welcome (ticket purchase required). Please join us to make this a successful part of the conference this year and in the future. We will have live music and a special speaker, Rob de Loë, from the University of Waterloo.

Rob will be leading us in a discussion about what is “Natural”. For three decades Rob’s research focused on water and environmental governance in Canada and around the world. Rob’s new research program explores how photography can be used to build understanding around challenging science and policy questions. He leverages his extensive water research career and teaching expertise, and builds on his decades of experience as a photographer and photographic print maker. Rob will be displaying photographs of rivers and streams in the Guelph area during the conference, and will be asking you to think about the question “What is Natural?” through his talk. To set up the photography exhibition and Rob’s talk, you will be invited to share your thoughts about natural channel systems through a pre- and post-workshop survey. Details about the survey, including the link, will be sent to registrants after early bird registration closes on May 31, 2023. Tickets for the banquets can be purchased through the conference registration system.
